This 3-hour wine and cheese matching class starts with a short multimedia presentation of approximately 30 minutes
whereby the experienced
wine instructor
gives a comprehensive introduction to
the excellent wines & cheese of Spain in a fun, informative and interactive
manner.
Participants are provided with a printed hand-out including general
information on Spanish wines and the presentation includes information on
different Spanish cheeses, the cheese industry and tendencies, and basic
wine and cheese matching concepts.
The 6 different Spanish wines are tasted, with the instructor providing
professional guidance. The wines selected generally include a cava
(champagne-like sparkling wine), both an unoaked & oaked white, a fruit-dominant
red and an oak-dominant red, and a dessert wine.
Next, the cheeses are tasted
and discussed. Six premium Spanish cheeses are chosen from different
regions in Spain, the selection depending on the season of the year,
with cheeses made from cow's, goat's and sheep's milk included, as well
as cheeses made from combinations of these.
Finally, during the last hour of
the class, participants will discover if some of the wine and cheese
matching principles hold true, by tasting different pairings of the wide
variety of wines and cheeses selected, uncovering and discussing the
best and worst combinations.
Should they wish, clients may of course suggest their
own combinations of particular wines and cheeses to be selected for the class.
This event is held in a specially conditioned tasting
classroom, in the centre of Madrid and close to the Metro stations of Colón and
Alonso Martínez, and is intended for private groups with a maximum of 20
participants (for larger groups, please
