Centro Comercial Moda Shopping

Moda Shopping Mall

Madrid has been described as one huge shopping center, and that is a fairly accurate statement. However, there are pockets of small and large shopping malls dotted around the city where the shopping experience is even more concentrated than usual. The Centro Comercial Moda Shopping, having recently celebrated its 20th anniversary as a major shopping mall, is one such place.

Moda Shopping uses a name that is part Spanish and part English. Moda means fashion, and that's basically the kind of shopping this mall specialises in. Well known stores and brands like, Benetton, K&E (both for men and women), Lujans, Trucco, Charcos, and Q-ellos are open for business in Moda Shopping, and even designer Purificación García has a store.

The 50 or so stores are not all for human fashion. Home decor features as well, and all the latest home fashion items are available. There is an antique gallery to add taste to your home decor, and contemporary Spanish art for that final perfect touch. Buying fine fashion clothing is only half the effort; you have to look good wearing it, and the mall has a beauty salon just for that purpose. There are also several restaurants and cafés to relax in while you wonder how you managed to spend so much.

Moda Shopping is located in the Centro Comercial area, just off the Paseo de la Castellana, the great road that enters Madrid from the north. Directly across the road is the imposing and highly impressive structure of Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the home ground of Madrid's premier football team, Real Madrid. To the south of Moda Shopping stands another imposing structure, the high sky-scraping towers of Torre Picasso in the AZCA business and commercial area.

Centro Comercial Moda Shopping is served by several Metro stations. The Metro dedicated to the stadium at Santiago Bernabéu is directly opposite Moda Shopping, on the other side of the Paseo de la Castellana. To the south, and just a few minutes walk away is Metro Nuevos Ministerios, and a little further away to the north is Metro Cuzco. Metros Santiago Bernabéu and Cuzco are on line 10, and Metro Nuevos Ministerios can be reached from lines 6, 8 and 10.

Moda Shopping is open every day from 10am to 9pm, although in fact shops are allowed to open on only a few Sundays during the year by local law. When they do, it is from 12pm to 8pm.

There are a number of excellent hotels close by Centro Comercial Moda Shopping. These include, the four-star Rafaelhoteles Orense a short distance south of Moda Shopping, the four-star AC Aitana, just a few hundred metres away, the four-star AC Cuzco, a short distance north, and the 15-storey, four-star NH Eurobuilding Hotel, lying close by to the northeast.
