Information & Recommendations for Quiet, Secluded or Lesser Known Hotels in Madrid, Spain
Madrid is a bustling city, full of life, activity, and energy. Like most cosmopolitan city centres, it has an abundance of nightclubs and bars, shops and
boutiques, and museums and art galleries. The tourist trade alone ensures that this is a city that never sleeps. However, many of Madrid's visitors enjoy a
more relaxed pace in the city, choosing to stay at hotels located in quiet areas, giving them time to reflect on their vacation. There are various quiet
location hotels in Madrid, but there are five in particular that are well worth checking out.

The first such hotel is the
Anaco (Tres Cruces, 3, Madrid). Situated on a
quiet street just off the Plaza del Carmen, this small and central hotel is ideal for those who wish to be a moment away from the action, but still have the
pleasure of a peaceful hotel. The Anaco offers its patrons a bar, coffee shop, and well-priced restaurant. It also has parking for five hundred cars, and
is near the Atocha train station and Estación Sur bus station. If you do decide to stay in this plain but "great value for money" hotel, then it will cost you
around 80 euros per room. However, you need to make sure to book in advance, as there are only 39 rooms available in this establishment. Each room comes
complete with air conditioning, en suite, TV, telephone, and safety deposit box. In addition to this, it has a porter service and a 24 hour reception,
meaning that your needs are catered for no matter what time of day it is. As is standard in many of Madrid's hotels, the Anaco offers a dry cleaning and
laundry service, baby-sitting services, medical services, and currency exchange.
The Hotel Conde Duque is really a quiet oasis in the bustling city of Madrid.
The hotel is located in the peaceful and landscaped square of Plaza Conde Valle de Suchil close to the city centre, so instantly has a more relaxed and inviting atmosphere than many of the other available vacation spots in the
city. It is ideally situated near the metro so travelling to Madrid's "must see" attractions poses no problem at all and can easily be done. The rooms
here are very clean, with well-appointed bathrooms, many of which have luxurious marble baths. Breakfast is served promptly and is substantial, typical of a
four star venue. The setting of the hotel is quaint, overlooking a local playground and park, which is filled every afternoon with children and their families,
giving the Conde Duque a real traditional, family feel.
The third good "quiet location" hotel in Madrid is The
Hotel Emperatriz, which is located in the district known as the Barrio Salamanca (C/ López de Hoyos 4, Madrid). Away from the bustling centre, the hotel offers a quiet and secluded venue from which to enjoy the city. From this comfortable base, you can take a short stroll down Madrid's beautiful and wide main avenue, the Paseo Castellana, walking in the shade of the tall trees or stopping off at the open-air cafeterias before reaching
the Prado or
Thyssen museums in just a few minutes. Or stay in the Salamanca district to discover the marvellous designer boutiques (Loewe, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada) in this area. The hotel offers every comfort, including air-conditioning, a Wi-Fi Internet connection and printer, fax-photocopier and scanner in rooms of higher category. The hotel is very close to the Gregorio Marañon and Ruben Dario Metro stations for visits to the main cultural attractions such as the Puerta del Sol, Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, and Madrid de los Austrias.
Of all the options for quiet location hotels, these five are but a handful on offer. However, each affords its own distinct flavour and style, combining good
quality accommodation with a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere that will put you at ease on your holiday. Nowadays, a quiet hotel in the city gives you that
little bit of sanctuary in the thriving metropolis of Madrid.
Another ideal hotel for those in search of a quiet location is the
Best Western Hotel Los Condes (Los Libreros 7, 28004, Madrid Spain), which costs around
60 euros per room. The hotel is based on a quiet street in the centre of the city, which is famous for its myriad of bookstores. With sixty-eight rooms and an
extremely pleasant atmosphere, this hotel is a hot spot for many tourists. People visiting the hotel will be pleased to find a salon, cafeteria, and free
newspaper delivery as part of the standard service in this establishment. Also, there is public parking within 250 meters of the building. Each room features a
bathroom, colour television, piped music, safe deposit box, air-conditioning, direct dial phone, and mini-bar. Modern and up-to-date are words that are
synonymous with the Best Western, as it was remodelled in July 2002. This is a two star establishment and good value for money if you are looking for a quiet but
friendly hotel for your vacation.
Lastly, the Suecia Hotel (Marques De Casa Riera 4, Madrid 28014.) is another
quiet location site worth visiting. It is a three star venue, which is situated in an unhurried location in the centre of the city, about 1km from Atocha
train station. You can expect to pay around 130 euros per room in this well-maintained and functional hotel. Although the rooms can be on the small side,
they are expertly kept and the waiting staff do a good job in their standards of cleanliness. For the traveller who likes to get out and about in the city,
the Suecia won't disappoint. Although it's a quiet location, it's not far from most of the main attractions in the city, and, in fact, is close to the
Banco De Espana underground station,
the Prado, and Sol. However, it should be noted that this hotel is slightly run down. What you gain in location,
you lose slightly in décor. The Suecia could benefit from some selective refurbishment, but on the whole is a good place to stay if you want a peaceful location.
