This is a professionally-run class where the wine instructor
aims to give you, the client, a comprehensive, informative and at the same time fun & interactive introduction to the excellent wines of Spain.
The class starts with a short multimedia presentation of about 30 minutes, which gives a good overview of the interesting world of Spanish wine and introduces
the participants to the principal characteristics of the wines and the major Spanish wine regions. Each student is
also provided a printed handout with information on Spanish wines and a list of the wines to be tasted.
The tasting itself follows a class theme such as the topic of "New Spanish Stars", which includes the presentation of 8 premium wines from the different regions of Spain.
2 white wines and 6 red wines are served - these are high quality wines which provide an excellent idea of the top value-quality relationship available
in Spain. Examples served range from young (joven) to "reserva" level wines, enabling you to appreciate the entire range of quality in Spanish wines,
from inexpensive (8-10 euros) to some high level reservas (20-30 euros).
The general idea of this course is to cover the entire Spanish wine scene using the wines presented,
including special emphasis on the new and upcoming regions. Wines are served from the more traditional areas such as Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but
most of the wines will be from their less-famous but equally outstanding cousins, the new rising stars such as Priorat, Somontano,
Bierzo, Jumilla, La Mancha, and the very trendy wine category of Vinos de la Tierra.
This Monday Night Wine Class is held in a spacious, light and air-conditioned classroom located within walking distance
of the Colon or Alfonso Martinez Metro stations, in the center of Madrid.
