This traditional cake shop, open since 1855, is well-known for its Spanish nougat or 'turrón', traditional in Spain during the Christmas period, but which is sold in this establishment all year round.
The nougat comes in all sorts of varieties, from the classic Jijona and Alicante to toasted egg yolk or chocolate.
Among the specialities there are also other Christmas sweets, such as marzipan, polvorones (flaky biscuits) and yemas de nuez (walnut and egg-yolk pastries). All the products are handmade using the finest ingredients in the old-fashioned way with no preservatives or artificial colourings.
This establishment is also known for being a supplier to the Royal Household.

We live in the U.S. and make regular trips to Spain, as we love this
country. When in Madrid, a mandatory stop is Casa Mira. The turron is
fabulous; however we are obsessed with the "mandarinas". Their candied
whole mandarin oranges are beyond belief. We take home a large box each
visit. My sister lives in Germany and makes the same pilgrimage. You must
try them!

Sweet but not too sweet. The almonds were perfect and flavorful. I love
turron as long as it isn't too difficult to crunch and this is the best
yet. Thanks to my daughter's in-laws who live part of the year in Madrid.

My family in Spain have been sending us turron(to London)from this place,
each Christmas and we have been utterly spoilt! Any other turron just
isn't good enough now.
Truly worthy of a royal... and certainly worth trying, if you have the
chance!
