You might want to do that before filling in any information on this page, just so you do not risk losing your work after returning from viewing the image.

Palacio de Telecomunicaciones. This building presides over one of Madrid's most emblematic squares, the Plaza de Cibeles. It currently houses the central Post Office and was built at the beginning of the 20th century.

The Panadería. Central to the Plaza Mayor, this building is named after the bakery it replaced. Its construction and colourful facade of frescos were initiated in 1590, although it was changed in 1617 and restored in 1790 after a major fire in the plaza

The Botín Restaurant. This image shows the Felipe IV rooms at the famous Botín restuarant.  Send this card with a message that you'll be eating here - you'll be the envy of all your friends!

The Plaza de Oriente. This beautiful plaza and associated gardens are situated right in front of the Royal Palace, which can also be seen in the image.

The Torre del Oro. This tavern is situated under the Plaza Mayor's arches. Its walls are lined with action photographs from bullfights in Madrid and several enormous fighting bulls' heads add to this collection of tauromachy. Why not send this image accompanied by our Pasadoble sound file for the perfect bullfighting postcard?

The Ayuntamiento. The Town Hall building or Ayuntamiento is located in the Plaza de la Villa. Construction on this splendid building started in 1640, although ther have been later additions such as the façade in Calle Mayor which was terminated in 1787.

The Almudena Cathedral. Madrid's cathedral is located alongside the Royal Palace. It was designed in 1879 by the Marques of Cubas in neo-gothic style and has a romanesque crypt. The construction work was renewed in 1946 by the architects Carlos Sidro and Fernando Chueca Goitia in a neo-baroque style that covered the already built neo-gothic part. The work was finally terminated in 1993 and the Cathedral was consecrated by Pope John Paul II on the 15th June, 1993.

The Plaza Mayor. Perhaps Madrid's most famous tourist sight. This majestic square was originally planned by Felipe II and his architect Juan de Herrera, but was inaugurated in 1620 during Felipe III's reign, whose statue sits proud in the very centre of the square. The square has been called Plaza Mayor since the 15th century, but was built on the site of the old Plaza del Arrabal and served as a market square until the late 19th century.
